Ingredients

what's inside matters.

You should know what's on your skin. So we tell you. We list every ingredient. No hiding behind the word "fragrance."

how a fragrance is made

Every phermont scent starts as raw plants, resins, and rare materials. Here is how we turn them into the bottle on your shelf.

the still

We heat petals, peels, and wood in a copper still. The steam carries the scent up and over, then cools back into oil and water.

the tincture

Some materials, like resins and tea, are too delicate for heat. We soak them slowly in alcohol for weeks, no fire needed.

the raw materials

Resin, wood, citrus peel, and tea leaves, sourced whole and processed by hand before they ever reach the still.

the ambergris

One of the rarest materials in the world. It is found washed up on shores, never taken from a whale, and aged for years before use.

[Merchant note: the illustrations above are custom graphics standing in for real process photography. For an even richer gallery, we recommend photographing the actual still, tincture jars steeping, raw ambergris, and botanicals as they arrive before processing.]

what we include

  • Organic sugarcane alcohol - we ferment sugarcane, then distill it into a clean, clear liquid. It carries the scent in every bottle.
  • Essential oils - we steam petals, peels, and wood. The steam pulls out pure oil. That oil holds the scent.
  • Absolutes - some flowers, like jasmine and rose, are too soft for steam. We pull out their scent a gentler way, with no heat.
  • Resins - tree bark makes a sticky resin, like benzoin. We tap it by hand, then soak it in alcohol to bring out its warm scent.
  • Natural isolates - every plant holds many scent pieces. We pull out just one piece at a time, for more control.
  • Botanical extracts - we soak woods, spices, and teas in alcohol. This pulls out their true scent.
  • Organic green & black tea - we steep real tea leaves, then soak them in alcohol. This is the tea note in eden no.11 and ezra no.7.
  • Ambergris - one of the most precious materials in the world. It is found washed up on shores, never taken from a whale. It gives a rare, warm, skin-like depth you can't get any other way.
  • Thoughtfully chosen aroma molecules - used only in our Clean Collection. We pick each one for being safe and gentle on skin.

what we don't include

[Merchant: list specific excluded ingredients here.]

pure vs. clean

Pure Collection - synthetic free.

Clean Collection - safe, nontoxic scent materials, picked by our own rules.

Two standards. One promise.
